Lenten Retreat announcement

The holy spirit catholic church Onireke Lenten retreat for 2024 is scheduled to begin on the 3rd of March to 8th of march 2024, (3rd-8th March, 2024).

Dear Beloved Members of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Onireke,

As we enter the sacred season of Lent, I am filled with a sense of joy and anticipation for the spiritual journey that lies ahead of us. In the heart of this season, our faith community at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Onireke, has a unique opportunity to come together in prayer, reflection, and renewal through the practice of a Lenten retreat.

Rooted in the rich traditions of our Roman Catholic faith, the Lenten retreat holds profound significance for our spiritual growth and transformation. It is a time when we are called to emulate the example of Jesus Christ, drawing closer to God through the pillars of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving.

Fasting, as we know, is more than abstaining from food; it is a discipline of the body and spirit, a voluntary sacrifice that opens our hearts to receive the grace of God more fully. Through intensified prayer, we deepen our relationship with the Divine, seeking His guidance and strength to discern His will in our lives. And through acts of almsgiving, we express our love for our neighbors, especially the marginalized and vulnerable among us, following in the footsteps of Christ’s selfless love.

Moreover, the Lenten retreat provides us with a sacred space for reconciliation and renewal. Through the sacrament of reconciliation, we encounter the boundless mercy and forgiveness of God, restoring our souls and renewing our commitment to living lives of holiness and virtue.

As members of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Onireke, let us seize this opportunity to journey together in faith and fellowship. Let us support one another through shared prayer, reflection, and acts of charity, drawing strength from our unity as the Body of Christ.

May our Lenten retreat be a time of spiritual rejuvenation, deepening our love for God and neighbor, and renewing our commitment to living out the Gospel message in our lives and community.
