Pope Francis receives John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize, in an audience at the Vatican on Saturday

This morning, Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Apostolic Palace of the Vatican, the Prime Minister of Belize, His Excellency Mr. John Briceño, was received in audience by His Holiness Pope Francis. He then met His Excellency Mgr Paul Richard Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations.
During the cordial exchanges that took place at the Secretariat of State, satisfaction was expressed for the good relations between Belize and the Holy See. The parties placed particular emphasis on the commitment of the Holy Church in the areas of education and reception of migrants.
Attention then turned to some current socio-political problems in the country, highlighting the contribution that the Catholic Church and Christian values, present in Belizean society, can make to the common good of the population.
