St. Peter’s Square to host photographic exhibition “Changes”
Bernini's famous colonnade surrounding St. Peter's Basilica will house the exhibition featuring a photographic interpretation of St. Francis' “Song of the Creatures” to raise awareness of the dramatic effects of man-made climate change on God's creation.

From May 7 to 27, St. Peter's Square will host the photo exhibition “Changes”, a photographic interpretation of “Song of the Creatures” emphasizing the contrast between the effects of climate change and the hope inspired by beauty of God's creation. .
Organized by the Dicastery for Communication in collaboration with the Dicastery for the Service of Integral Human Development and the Laudato Si' Center for Higher Education. the exhibition is curated by Lia and Marianna Beltrami as part of the “Emotions to Generate Change” project.
It will include 24 photographs accompanied by extracts from the Canticle of the Creatures of Saint Francis and references to the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Francis “Laudate Deum.”
A journey of 24 photographs
The photos selected and combined with the prayer of Saint Francis present a contrast between the beauty and wonder of Creation and the destruction of climate change, both for our environment and for people around the world.
The title of the exhibition, “Changes,” refers to both the phenomenon of climate change and the need for individuals to change their perspectives and behaviors in order to mitigate its impacts.
The photographs, mounted on supports made from wood salvaged after the Vaia storm in the autonomous province of Trento, come from various regions including Borneo, Bangladesh, Togo, Ethiopia, the Amazon, Florida, Greece , Italy, Iceland, Australia and Turkey.
The exhibition features the works of photographers such as Neşe Arı, Raffaele Merler, Giampaolo Calzà, Franco Giovanazzi, Vassilis Ikoutas, Asaf Ud Daula, Sebastiano Rossitto, Ferran Paredes Rubio and Francesca Larrain.
