Even during the summer, the pope’s charitable efforts continue in support of Ukraine, a country he has long described as “martyred.”
As in previous months, trucks are expected to leave the Ukrainian Basilica of Holy Wisdom in Rome on Wednesday, August 7.
They are carrying essential supplies, such as food, clothing and medicine, for the distressed population of the Eastern European country. The cargo includes cans of tuna, a long-life food.
Cardinal Konrad Krajewski, prefect of the Dicastery for the Service of Charity, known as the papal chaplain, is overseeing the shipment and distribution of these gifts from the pope in Ukraine.
This new act of charity reaffirms the Pope’s solidarity with the country, for which he also asked for the prayers and support of all the faithful at the end of Wednesday’s general audience.
