US Catholic Bishops meet to discuss migration and budget

On the agenda for their 2025 Plenary Assembly are migration, the USCCB budget, the National Eucharistic Congress and the causes for beatification and canonization of two people.

On Monday, bishops from across the United States gathered in Baltimore, Maryland, for their plenary assembly to pray and dialogue on various topics facing the American Church today.

Speakers include the President of the Episcopal Conference, Mgr. Timothy Broglio, and the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Cardinal Christophe Pierre, who opened the plenary assembly.

The four-day event includes a packed schedule with speeches ranging from migration, the 2021-2024 Synod of Bishops, the United States National Eucharistic Congress and the 2025 USCCB budget.

During the meeting, a new conference treasurer and five conference committees will be voted on. Presidents serve a one-year term as president-elect before serving in the role for three years following the 2025 Fall Plenary Assembly.

The public sessions of the assembly will be broadcast live on November 12 and 13 before the meeting closes on Thursday, November 14.
