Youth Ambassadors against Human Trafficking cross the Holy Doors

On Monday morning, a group of ambassadors for young associates in Talitha Kum became pilgrims of the Jubilee d’Espoir, crossing the holy doors of three papal basilicas.

They come from Australia, Cameroon, Japan, Albania, Romania, Ukraine, Kenya, Mexico, Uruguay, Peru…. What do they have in common? They have joined forces with Talitha Kum, the international network of religious women who fight on the trafficking of human beings, as an ambassadors for young people.
Their week of activity in Rome began on Saturday February 1st with an orientation. On Sunday, they joined Pope Francis on the Place de Saint-Pierre for the recitation of the Angelus.
Pilgrims of hope, walking in dignity
On Monday, these young ambassadors became pilgrims of hope. Early in the morning, they gathered at the end of Via Concilaazione to start their pilgrimage to the Basilica of Saint-Pierre.

After crossing the holy door of the Basilica of Saint-Pierre, the pilgrims of the youth ambassador also crossed the holy doors of Saint John Leterran and Saint Mary Major. They will cross the holy doors on Thursday in the Basilica of Saint Paul outside the walls.

Sr. Abby Avelino, Talitha Kum international coordinator, says that the young ambassadors take advantage of the year of the jubilee and the pilgrimage of hope “to invite many people to walk with us, walking in dignity”.

Since their launch, users in 95 countries have donated around 200,000,000 stages, or 200,000 tokens, covering a distance of 52,120,000 kilometers. 9 projects associated with Talitha Kum reached the targeted target of 150,000 tokens.
