“Let us pray that the ecclesial community welcomes the desires and doubts of these young people who feel called to live the mission of Jesus in life: either by priestly life, or religious life.”

Pope Francis made this call for prayers in the pope’s video, which was published Tuesday to accompany his prayer intention for February 2025.

Based on his own professional experience, the Pope recalled that at 17, he had other plans for his life which did not include becoming a priest.

“But one day, I went to the church … and God was there, waiting for me!” He said.

The Holy Father recalled that God calls many young people to serve his people by a vocation to priesthood or religious life.

“God still calls young people even today, sometimes in a way that we cannot imagine,” he said. “Sometimes we don’t hear because we are too busy with our own things, our own plans, even with our own things in the Church.”

However, the pope adds, the Holy Spirit reveals the plan of God for our lives by speaking at the heart of young people.

The task of Catholics, he added, is to accompany their spiritual journey, so that they are willing and capable of welcoming the call in a religious vocation.

“Let’s trust young people!” Pope Francis concluded. “And, above all, let’s trust God because he calls everyone!”

Accompanying young people in their professional trip

Pope’s video, published by the Pope’s global prayer networkRepresent scenes from the beginning of the life of Jorge Mario Bergoglio, now Pope Francis, as well as images of the daily life of young people today.

The effect, according to a press release, is to link the young people of the future Pope to young contemporaries, whom God calls for a priestly or religious vocation in the same way.

According to Archbishop José Gómez from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, who helped produce the video, God takes the lives of young people seriously.

“The mission of the Church,” he said, “is to walk with young people to help them grow in their faith and work to make this world in the kingdom that God wants for his people.”

The father. Cristóbal Fones, SJ, international director of the Pope’s global prayer network, said that the professional invitation of God always respects all the freedom of those he calls.

“This requires an approach to the Ministry of Vocation which really appreciates dialogue and support, while welcoming and accepting the concerns, questions and concrete aspirations of young people as an important element of the professional process,” said the father. Voids.

The press release ends with a reminder that one of the conditions to receive a plenary indulgence via one of the holy doors of Rome is the “prayer for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff”.
